Welcome to the Bury Billiards League Website

Sponsored by Lancashire Trade Frames Ltd

The Bury Amateur and Orme Billiards League was originally formed well over 100 years ago, and was sponsored by billiard table manufacturers Orme & Sons who were founded in Manchester in 1856.  The billiards table manufacturers were sponsors of the original Professional Billiards League Championship and provided many of the amateur billiards leagues in this country with league trophies engraved with their name.  The firm continued to support the leagues for many years, however the Bury Amateur and Orme Billiards League changed its name in the early 1970’s and became the Bury Amateur Billiards League.  It continued in this form until 2012 when the Bury Amateur Billiards League amalgamated with Bury Political Billiards League and became BURY BILLIARDS LEAGUE with Lancashire Trade Frames Ltd becoming our new league sponsors.

In the Bury Billiards League we play on a Tuesday night in teams of 3 players, each starting with a handicap and playing to 200 up.  Handicaps range, dependant on ability, from +135, down as far as the players ability deems necessary.  Match points are awarded for each individual game won plus 2 points for the aggregate.  There are also Individual and Pairs Competitions played throughout the season and at the end of the season there is a Team knockout Competition.

If anyone is interested in playing the game of English Billiards and would like to get in touch please check out  our Contacts page for contact details.
